Happy New Year everyone! I hope you left 2011 happy, and entered 2012 with a bang!
We spent the night with a small group of friends and had a great time. I even managed to remain responsible and feel great today!! First New Years in a long time that this has happened!
So it’s that time of year again where resolutions are made. I’m one of those people that for the past few years or so, has made the same yearly resolutions every January 1st…
- Lose weight
- Run, Run, Run
- Eat better
And obviously I haven’t done a whole lot to stick to these resolutions! Oh, I’m usually on track for the first little bit, maybe until the end of the month or so. Then it’s almost like a constant battle for the rest of the year trying to get myself to do what I know I should be doing, instead of sabotaging myself day in and day out.
What does it take to make attainable, reasonable goals?
What does it take to stay committed and focused to reach these goals, in order to do what I know is best for me?
This year, I’m changing it up. Not so much the actual goals for what I want to accomplish this year; many of those are still the same. I do want to lose some weight! I do want to run more! And I KNOW I have to eat better…

Following this awesome post and plan for an ‘Eff Yeah 2012′, I’m planning my New Year a little differently this year! I’m very excited and motivated by this approach!
Here we go!
Step 1: My Eff Yeah List from 2011
- I got a permanent position at work!
- Started my new blog!
- Ran my first half marathon!
Step 2: My 2012 Word
The word that I have chosen for 2012 is CHOICES.
Life is about choices. Every day is a choice. You can do what’s easy, or you can do what’s best. It’s time to make the right choices to live my best life now!
Step 3: Life Buckets
Choose 9 different ‘Life Buckets’ that represent important pieces of your life, that reflect your priorities and your values.
- Family
- Friendships
- Romance
- Running/Gym
- The Blog
- Self Care
- Creativity
- Try New Things
- Organization
Step 4: 3 Ultimate Goals for Each Life Bucket
Make three goals for each Life Bucket that you’d like to have accomplished by the end of the year.
Step 5: Action Steps
On the first of every month, write down 1 action step for every goal in each Life Bucket. These action steps will be your main goals to work on and try to accomplish by the end of the month. Working on this right now!
Step 6: Sharing!
As with any resolution, goal, or dream, you are more likely to accomplish it when you share it with others! Not only can those people be there to help motivate you, but they are great to help keep yourself accountable! I’m sharing my plan with you readers, my boyfriend and my mom!

So there we go! I am so happy to have found this awesome plan (Thank you so much Nicole!!), and feel confident that I will be able to make 2012 my best year ever! (Cliche sounding I know… But I really do believe it!
