Has it really been 23 days since I last posted? Ugh, that’s not cool. To help get myself back on track, I kind of sort of promise Miss Laura over at scribbles & sass that I would post today. And… she double, double dared me to write 10 posts this month.
Well… I’ve never been one to back down from a dare. Here we go!
So… What have I been up to? When I look back it doesn’t really seem like a whole lot! I’ll put it out there that I haven’t been running like I probably should be. I’ve been averaging 2-3 runs/week still, but the furthest distance I’ve accomplished is 8km since that awesome 14km run I had. There is approximately 5.5 weeks until my first half marathon of the year. Someone needs to get their butt in gear!
My eating has been so-so. I’ve been trying to stay committed to using my fitbook (I’m actually on book number two now…), but sometimes with working nights, it’s really easy to forget, or lose motivation with tracking, and staying motivated. I’ve been toying with the idea of hiring one of the trainers at the gym… They do eating programs and workout programs. I haven’t decided yet… I’m stubborn and want to do it on my own, but I think I’m to the point that I might need a little more help.
One thing I have been doing? Hot yoga! I have totally reignited my love for the practice!
The feeling has been amazing, the peace it’s brought me, I haven’t felt in a long time. That, together with running, should hopefully be my key to feeling great!
I was sick this past weekend with a head cold. Yuck! What made it worse… I was working nights all weekend. I managed to survive, but barely. Saturday night I was so stuffy, and felt like I was just in a daze. I’m glad the worst of it was only for one night, and didn’t completely knock me out.
It’s taken a bit longer to completely recover though… I hit the treadmill yesterday at the gym, but only managed to run 2km before my lungs just couldn’t give anymore. Today I took to running outside. I made it 5km before I needed a bit of a break. Walked 0.25km, then ran again. Another little break about 1km later, then finished at a slow run pace until I reached 8km. Ugh. Hoping my lungs get with the program soon, I have some serious running to do!
It’s that wonderful time of year again… NHL Playoffs have started!! 2 months of intense, awesome, blood sweat and tears, hockey?! I love it! I can’t get enough! I’m a pretty big Vancouver Canucks fan, and that’s dangerous when you live in Alberta! Needless to say I’m hoping for a similar, yet obviously slightly different outcome for these playoffs…
I’m off to watch my Canucks play!
Do you love the NHL Playoffs? Who are you cheering for?
Do you love hot yoga? Do you, or have you used a personal trainer?
